Non-resonant global mode in LHD partial collapse with net toroidal current

چکیده

Abstract A transition from an interchange mode to a non-resonant is found in the nonlinear magnetohydrodynamic simulation for partial collapse large helical device (LHD) plasma with net toroidal current. This can occur when magnetic shear weak and rotational transform close unity core region. In this transition, number of dominant Fourier component reduced. As result evolution, ( m , n ) = (1, 1) be dominant, where are poloidal numbers, respectively. considered candidate explain observation LHD experiments current that show collapses caused by mode.

Resonant Contrawound Toroidal Helix Antenna

The resonant CWTHA is examined ia a moment-method simulation. The results show a ery high impedance at first resonance with a narrow bandwidth and low efficiency. At second resonance, the resistance is less than an ohm, the reactance is zero, and again, the bandwidth is narrow. The azimuth patterns are not omnidirectional, but may ha e a dip of 10 dB or more. The simulation shows a loop-mode ca...

Resonant Transparency and Non-Trivial Non-Radiating Excitations in Toroidal Metamaterials

Engaging strongly resonant interactions allows dramatic enhancement of functionalities of many electromagnetic devices. However, resonances can be dampened by Joule and radiation losses. While in many cases Joule losses may be minimized by the choice of constituting materials, controlling radiation losses is often a bigger problem. Recent solutions include the use of coupled radiant and sub-rad...

Reconstruction method of X-mode ultrashort-pulse reflectometry in LHD

Reflectometry is considered to be one of the key diagnostics to measure density profiles and density fluctuations of fusion oriented plasmas. When an electromagnetic wave is launched into a plasma, the wave is reflected at the corresponding cutoff layer of the ordinary (O) mode or the extraordinary (X) mode. Reflectometry measures the time of flight (TOF) or group delay of the reflected wave. W...

Assessing the merits of resonant magnetic perturbations with different toroidal mode numbers for controlling edge localised modes

An increase in ELM frequency has been demonstrated in MAST by applying resonant magnetic perturbations (RMPs) with toroidal mode number, nRMP = 2, 3, 4, 6. It has been observed that the mitigated ELM frequency increases with the amplitude of the applied field provided it is above a critical threshold. This threshold value depends on the mode number of the RMP, with higher nRMP having a larger c...
